What Shopify SEO services cover
One canonical address per product
Internal links, sitemaps and canonicals pointed at /products/, so the collection-path duplicate stops splitting signals with the page you actually want ranked.
Collection templates that take their own content
Titles, headings and intro text taken from metafields per collection instead of one shared template line, so every collection can target its own demand.
Tags, filters and sorting under control
Shopify turns tags and filters into crawlable URLs. Which of those deserve to be indexed because people search them, and which are blocked, decided as a rule.
Theme and app speed on a real product page
The script budget audited app by app, images served at the size they are displayed, and Core Web Vitals measured on the product and collection templates rather than the homepage.
Structured data without duplicates
Shopify themes and review apps often emit Product markup twice, with different prices. One correct block per page, matching the price and availability a visitor sees.
A rule for archived and sold-out products
Redirect where the page earned links, keep with alternatives where the item returns, and let go what nobody asks for — set up before the next catalogue clean-up, not after it.
What Shopify SEO has to work around
Shopify takes a set of decisions out of your hands, and most Shopify SEO work is about the consequences. The URL structure is fixed: products live under /products/, collections under /collections/, the blog under /blogs/. You cannot flatten those, so the work is to make every internal link, the sitemap and the canonical agree on one address per item — which they do not do by default, because a product linked from inside a collection is served at a second address with the collection in the path.
The theme is the second constraint. All collections share one template and all products share another, so anything written once appears everywhere unless the template is taught to read per-page values. That is a one-off piece of theme work, after which every collection can carry its own title and its own intro without a developer being involved again.
The third is apps. Every app that adds a review widget, an upsell, a pop-up or a currency switcher adds scripts to the same page, and the cost lands on the product template where the buying happens. Auditing that is unglamorous and it is usually where the largest speed win on a Shopify store sits.
Shopify SEO and ordinary ecommerce SEO: what is different
The strategy is the same as for any online store: collection pages are the landing pages, one address per product, a policy for items that stop being sold, markup that matches the visible page. The differences are all in how a fix is applied.
On a custom store a developer changes the routing. On Shopify the routing is fixed and the fix is in the links, the canonicals and the sitemap. On a custom store structured data is written once in the template. On Shopify it is often emitted twice — by the theme and again by a review app — with two different prices, and the work is removing one of them rather than adding anything.
What carries over unchanged is the thinking about categories, filters and dead products, which is described on the ecommerce SEO services page. This page is about the platform's own limits.
What Shopify SEO costs and what you get for it
A Shopify SEO audit is from €250: a crawl of the store, the duplicate-URL picture, the app and speed budget, the structured data actually being emitted, and a prioritised list of what to fix first. Ongoing monthly SEO starts from €800 a month. After looking at the store I put a fixed price in writing before anything starts.
Theme work is quoted separately from monthly SEO, because it is a one-off: once the collection template reads per-page titles and intros and the duplicate markup is gone, it stays fixed. I can apply it in the theme myself or write it up for whoever maintains it and check the result afterwards.
What I will not do is install another SEO app and call that the work. Most of them add a settings panel over the same theme files, plus more scripts on the page that is already too heavy.

How the work runs
Crawl and app audit
A full crawl of the store, every URL pattern it can produce, the scripts each app adds, and what the theme currently emits as structured data.
Duplicates and canonicals
Internal links, sitemap and canonicals pointed at one address per product; tag, filter and sort URLs sorted into indexable and blocked.
Theme work, once
Collection and product templates taught to read per-page titles, headings and intros; duplicate Product markup removed; images served at display size.
Content, links and monthly measurement
Collections built out for the demand that exists, internal links pointing at them, and a monthly report by collection rather than one number for the store.
